Why certification matters at wholesale scale
Retail buyers increasingly ask where firewood comes from. So do regulators, procurement departments, and any customer running their own sustainability reporting. FSC and PEFC certification is the shortest answer.
For a merchant or DIY chain, buying exclusively certified wood removes an entire category of risk from your supply chain — reputational, regulatory, and commercial.
FSC vs PEFC in practice
FSC is the more globally recognised consumer label. PEFC is the European standard and often the default in Baltic and Scandinavian forestry.
We supply firewood documented under both. Buyers with a clear FSC-only or PEFC-only requirement can specify at order — for most buyers, either is acceptable and we ship whichever the batch is documented under.
What documentation you receive
Each consignment ships with an FSC or PEFC chain-of-custody reference tied to the invoice number, Ready to Burn certification for UK-destined loads, moisture test record, and phytosanitary certificate where required.
For buyers running their own certified retail chain, this documentation supports the use of the FSC or PEFC label on your finished packaging, subject to your own CoC registration.

What is the difference between FSC and PEFC?+
Both certify sustainably managed forestry. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is the most globally recognised label; PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) is the European equivalent and often more common in Baltic forestry. We supply firewood documented under both, depending on the buyer's preference.
Does FSC firewood cost more?+
There is a small certification premium built into the round-wood price, but at container scale the per-m³ difference is negligible. For most professional buyers, the certification pays for itself many times over in customer trust.
Can I use FSC-certified firewood in my own certified retail chain?+
Yes. FSC chain-of-custody documentation travels with every consignment and allows you to carry the FSC label on your retail packaging, subject to your own chain-of-custody registration.
