Certification · Ready to Burn

Ready to Burn firewood supplier — sub-20% moisture, every load.

Since 2021, every unit of firewood sold in the UK under 2m³ must be certified Ready to Burn. Timberlink supplies UK merchants, importers and DIY chains with fully certified kiln-dried hardwood, retail bags, kindling and briquettes — direct from a Latvian mill, moisture-tested per consignment, paperwork included.

Below 20% moisture

Every crate, bag and pack kiln-dried below 20% moisture, typically 12–18%. Moisture-tested before packing.

Certification per load

Ready to Burn certificate issued per consignment. Paperwork travels with the container.

Full product range

Certified hardwood logs, retail bags, kindling, and wood briquettes. No non-certified product in our range.

What Ready to Burn actually means

Ready to Burn is a UK certification scheme operated by Woodsure. It confirms that firewood sold in units under 2m³ has been kiln-dried or seasoned to below 20% moisture content — the point at which wood burns cleanly, produces less smoke, and delivers the heat output the customer expects.

The scheme became a legal requirement in England in May 2021 under the Air Quality (Domestic Solid Fuels Standards) Regulations. Equivalent rules apply across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Why it matters commercially

Certification is not just a legal box. Customers actively look for the Ready to Burn logo — it has become the shorthand for 'this wood will actually light and burn properly'. Uncertified firewood carries an implicit warning: it might be wet, it might smoke, it might refuse to light.

For a merchant, stocking exclusively certified wood removes the biggest single source of customer complaints and returns. It also protects your yard's reputation as regulators tighten enforcement.

How our certification works

Round wood enters the yard from certified Latvian forestry. It is cut, split, and kiln-dried for 5–10 days depending on species. Moisture is tested at the kiln exit and again at packing. Only wood at or below 20% moisture goes into a crate, bag or pack.

The consignment then ships with a Ready to Burn certificate, moisture test record, phytosanitary certificate where required, and FSC/PEFC chain-of-custody references.

Frequently asked

What is Ready to Burn?+

A UK certification scheme run by Woodsure. Since May 2021, any firewood sold in England in units under 2m³ must be certified Ready to Burn — kiln-dried or seasoned to below 20% moisture. The equivalent is required across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

How do you certify Ready to Burn?+

Our kiln process brings every crate below 20% moisture, and every load is moisture-tested before packing. Ready to Burn certification is issued per consignment and travels with the paperwork.

Does Ready to Burn apply to bulk loads over 2m³?+

The mandatory labelling requirement applies below 2m³ (crates, bags, nets). Above 2m³ the standard is not legally required, but most professional merchants still insist on it — customers expect it, and it protects your yard's reputation.

Are all your products Ready to Burn?+

Yes. All kiln-dried logs, retail bags, kindling and briquettes we ship are Ready to Burn certified. Non-certified firewood is not part of our range.
