Product · Kiln-Dried Ash

Wholesale kiln-dried ash firewood — the merchant's all-rounder.

Ash burns hot, clean and forgiving — the hardwood most likely to keep a first-time retail customer happy. We supply it kiln-dried below 20% moisture in 1m³ and 2m³ crates and 22L / 40L retail bags, direct from a Latvian mill with full FSC/PEFC chain of custody.

The reliable middle tier

Hotter than birch, faster to light than oak, forgiving of slightly higher moisture. Fewer complaints, more repeat sales.

Ready to Burn certified

Kiln-dried below 20% moisture, moisture-tested before packing, certification ships with every load.

Baltic ash, sustainably sourced

FSC/PEFC chain of custody from certified Latvian forestry partners. Traceable, documented, exportable.

Why ash sells so well at retail

Ash is the hardwood that copes best with imperfect burning conditions. Even at moisture slightly above 20%, a well-built ash fire will light and burn cleanly — which matters when your end customer is not a stove expert.

For merchants, that translates to lower complaint rates, faster shelf turn, and a species you can confidently recommend to anyone walking into a garden centre for the first time.

How we handle ash

Round ash is sourced from certified Latvian forestry, cut to 25cm standard (33cm and 50cm on request), split and kiln-dried for 6–8 days to hit the sub-20% moisture target.

Ash dieback across Northern Europe means careful sourcing matters more than ever. We work with a small group of Baltic forestry partners with mature, healthy ash stands and FSC/PEFC documentation on every load.

How ash fits in your range

Most of our buyers use ash as the middle rung of a three-tier range: birch for volume, ash for the all-rounder, oak for premium. Priced between the two, it captures the customer who wants better than birch but doesn't want to pay oak money.

Ash also blends beautifully into hardwood-mix pallets and retail bags — the classic UK garden-centre offer.

Frequently asked

How does ash compare to oak and birch?+

Ash burns a little hotter than birch and a little faster than oak — a genuine all-rounder. It is also famously forgiving of slightly higher moisture, which is why merchants like it for retail: fewer complaints, more happy customers.

Is ash still available given dieback?+

Yes. Latvian ash dieback pressure means we work closely with certified Baltic forestry partners to source healthy, mature ash. Supply is stable, and every load is FSC/PEFC documented.

What packaging is available for ash?+

1m³ and 2m³ hardwood crates for merchants, 22L and 40L retail bags for supermarkets and DIY chains. Ash mixes well into hardwood-mix loads with birch and oak.
