Product · Hardwood Firewood
Wholesale hardwood firewood — Baltic birch, oak, ash and alder.
Hardwood is the backbone of any serious firewood range: denser, hotter, cleaner and longer-burning than softwood. We supply the four Baltic hardwoods European merchants sell most — kiln-dried below 20% moisture, Ready to Burn certified, FSC/PEFC sourced, packed in crates, bags or mixed loads.
Four Baltic hardwoods
Birch (volume), oak (premium), ash (all-rounder), alder (sauna & smoking). Order single species or mixed.
Full-load economics
60–64 crates per 40ft container, or ~3,000 retail bags. Predictable landed cost per m³ direct from the mill.
Kiln-dried & certified
Sub-20% moisture on every load. Ready to Burn certification, phytosanitary paperwork, FSC/PEFC references included.
Why hardwood, not softwood
Softwood is cheap and easy to light, but it burns fast, sparks freely, and coats flues with resin. For a merchant selling into modern stoves and open fires, hardwood is the default choice — and increasingly the only choice as emissions rules tighten across Europe.
Baltic hardwoods offer the best balance of price, availability and burn quality for the European wholesale market.
The four species we ship
Birch: the volume seller. Clean flame, fast to light, mid-range heat. Perfect for open fires, mixed retail bags, and first-time firewood buyers.
Oak: the premium option. Slow, hot, long burn. Positions at the top of a mixed range for high-efficiency stove buyers.
Ash: the all-rounder. Hotter than birch, faster than oak, forgiving of slight moisture variation. The merchant's go-to for lower-complaint retail.
Alder: lighter, easier to split, kindling-friendly. Popular in Scandinavia for saunas and smoking, and as an add-on species in mixed pallets.
How we pack hardwood loads
1m³ and 2m³ hardwood crates for merchant yards and garden centres. 22L and 40L netted retail bags for supermarkets and DIY chains. Kindling and briquette pallets to complete the offer. Most containers ship mixed — several species and formats in a single 40ft load.
Frequently asked
Which hardwood species do you supply?+
Birch, oak, ash and alder — the four Baltic hardwoods that dominate the European premium firewood shelf. We also ship mixed hardwood loads if you prefer one product code across your range.
What are the advantages of hardwood over softwood for firewood?+
Hardwood is denser, burns hotter and longer, produces less spark, and coats flues less than softwood. For any serious wood-burning application — stoves, open fires, restaurants — hardwood is the default.
Can you ship mixed hardwood pallets?+
Yes. Mixed hardwood loads (birch / oak / ash / alder combined) are one of our most popular formats for buyers who want variety in a single product code.
What is the typical hardwood moisture on arrival?+
Every crate leaves the kiln below 20% moisture, typically 12–18%. Certification and moisture test travel with each consignment.
