Product · Kiln-Dried Oak

Wholesale kiln-dried oak firewood — the premium end of the range.

Baltic oak carries the highest heat output and longest burn of the four hardwoods we ship. It is what premium stove buyers reach for and what merchants position at the top of their range. Sub-20% moisture, Ready to Burn certified, FSC/PEFC sourced, packed in crates or retail bags.

Long, hot burn

30–50% longer burn per log than birch, at higher sustained heat. The default choice for overnight burns and modern high-efficiency stoves.

Retail premium tier

Positioned above birch and ash in mixed ranges. 22L and 40L retail bags, 1m³ and 2m³ merchant crates.

Kiln-dried to spec

Below 20% moisture, typically 14–18%. Ready to Burn certification and moisture test on every load.

Why oak commands a premium

Oak is one of the densest European hardwoods. That density is what makes it burn so long and so hot — but it also means longer kiln cycles, more careful splitting and lower m³ yield per tonne of round wood. All of that shows up in the price.

For a merchant or importer, oak sells against a different customer than birch. Buyers are usually stove owners with better appliances, higher expectations of heat output, and a willingness to pay for it.

How our oak is produced

Round oak comes into our yard from FSC/PEFC-certified Latvian forestry. It is cut to length (25cm standard, 33cm and 50cm on request), split and kiln-dried for 7–10 days to hit the sub-20% moisture target.

Moisture is checked before packing, and every crate ships with Ready to Burn certification, phytosanitary documentation where required, and FSC/PEFC chain-of-custody references.

Positioning oak in your range

Most of our buyers list oak as the top tier of a three-species range: birch as the volume driver, ash as the all-rounder, oak as the premium. That structure lets you price oak at a healthy margin without cannibalising your birch volumes.

For retail, 40L oak bags convert well as an add-on at the till for stove buyers already loading up on birch. In merchant yards, oak crates are the natural upsell to customers investing in better appliances.

Frequently asked

Why does oak cost more than birch?+

Oak is denser, slower-growing and slower to kiln-dry. You get more heat per crate and a longer burn per log, which is why premium stove buyers pay a margin for it.

How long does oak burn compared to birch?+

A well-seasoned oak log typically burns 30–50% longer than birch of the same size, at higher sustained heat. That makes it the top choice for overnight burns and high-output stoves.

What moisture content does your oak ship at?+

Kiln-dried below 20% moisture, typically 14–18%. Oak takes longer in the kiln than birch, but the sub-20% target is the same.

Do you supply oak in retail bags?+

Yes. 22L and 40L netted bags for premium retail, alongside 1m³ and 2m³ hardwood crates for merchants. Oak is often positioned as the top-shelf option in mixed hardwood ranges.
