Moisture & kiln-drying — the short answers
What moisture content should firewood be below?
Under 20%. UK Ready to Burn, Nordic Swan and Irish Solid Fuel specs all target sub-20%. Timberlink kiln-dried hardwood ships at 12–18%.
How long does kiln-drying take?
Birch: 5–8 days at 65–80°C. Oak and other dense hardwoods: 10–14 days. Every batch is resistance-meter tested before release.
Why not just air-season?
Air-seasoning in northern Europe stops around 25–30% moisture — not compliant with Ready to Burn and inconsistent between pallets.
What certification proves the moisture claim?
Every container ships with a batch-linked moisture certificate plus PEFC/12-31-065 chain-of-custody documentation.
