Product · Kiln-Dried Birch
Wholesale kiln-dried birch firewood, direct from a Latvian mill.
Baltic birch is the volume leader of the European firewood trade — clean flame, fast to light, consistent burn. We supply it in full 40ft container loads, 1m³ and 2m³ hardwood crates, and 22L / 40L retail bags. Sub-20% moisture, Ready to Burn certified, FSC/PEFC sourced.
Sub-20% moisture, always
Kiln-dried at our own facility, typically 12–18% moisture in every crate. Ready to Burn certification ships with the load.
Retail-ready packaging
1m³ / 2m³ crates for merchants, 22L / 40L netted bags for supermarkets, mixed loads in one container.
Baltic forestry
FSC and PEFC chain-of-custody documented, from sustainably managed Latvian birch forestry.
Why birch is the trade's default hardwood
Birch lights fast, burns clean and gives a consistent mid-range heat output — the profile most open-fire and stove buyers actually want. It is easier to sell than oak (which is slower to light) and cleaner than softwood (which sparks and coats flues).
For a merchant, that translates to the fastest-moving hardwood on the shelf, low return rates, and easy conversion for first-time firewood buyers.
How we produce and pack birch
Round birch enters our yard from FSC/PEFC-certified Latvian forestry. It is cut to length (25cm standard, 33cm and 50cm on request), split, kiln-dried for 5–7 days, then packed into crates or netted retail bags.
Each crate is moisture-tested before it ships. Ready to Burn certification, phytosanitary paperwork and FSC/PEFC references travel with every consignment.
How our buyers use birch
UK merchants sell it as bagged retail through garden centres and petrol stations. Irish importers move it into merchant yards and DIY chains. Scandinavian and Baltic buyers ship it into supermarket retail. Central European buyers use it as the volume base for mixed hardwood pallets.
Whatever the channel, birch is the shortest path from a Baltic mill to a wood-burning household in Europe.
Frequently asked
What moisture content does your birch firewood ship at?+
Every crate leaves the kiln below 20% moisture — typically between 12% and 18%. This is the Ready to Burn standard in the UK and is comfortably inside every EU domestic solid fuel regulation.
What log length do you supply?+
Standard length is 25cm, with 33cm and 50cm available on request. Split thickness targets modern stove and open-fire use — no oversized rounds.
How much birch fits in a 40ft container?+
About 60–64 crates of 1m³, or 30–32 crates of 2m³, or roughly 3,000 retail bags (22L / 40L). Mixed loads are our default — birch with a few pallets of kindling and briquettes.
Is your birch FSC or PEFC certified?+
Yes. All our Baltic birch is FSC and/or PEFC chain-of-custody documented, sourced from sustainably managed Latvian forestry.
